Which Outdoor TV Model Should You Choose?
Comparing Outdoor Displays from Furrion, Samsung, and SunBriteTV
When it’s a beautiful afternoon or evening outside, it’s a shame to stay cooped up indoors. But there are only so many hours in the day, and when we want to watch the next episode of a show, all too often, we opt for the living room instead of the backyard.
But that changes with an outdoor TV installation. These displays are built to endure all temperatures and weather conditions so that they can stay mounted outdoors year-round. Even in Fort Lauderdale, with our muggy, humid summers and rainy season, a weatherproof outdoor TV is up for the challenge.
Let’s compare outdoor TVs from the three most popular manufacturers to help you find the right one!

Furrion
Founded in 2010, Furrion got its start developing electric mobility and off-grid energy solutions for homeowners, luxury hotels, and yachts. Its outdoor smart TVs include built-in speakers and can operate at temperatures from -4°F to 122°F (non-operating temperatures of -24° to 122 °F). It can withstand up to 90 percent humidity, which is essential here in South Florida!
In general, Furrion outdoor TVs cost less than its competitors. The displays are rated IP54 waterproof, meaning they’re sealed against dust and splashing water. They’re available in 4K UHD LED and include RangeXtend antennas to receive a stronger Wi-Fi signal. All Furrion outdoor TVs are compatible with Furrion soundbars, mounts, and covers.
Furrion’s Partial Sun TV features 750 nits of brightness to be seen clearly even during the day. However, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight for long periods. Its Full Sun TV is anti-glare with 1,000 nits LED brightness. The Full Shade model offers 400 nit brightness, suitable for covered patios, porches, and entirely shaded areas.
SunBriteTV
Outdoor televisions by SunBriteTV are slightly more durable than Furrion’s, with an IP55-rated aluminum exterior and IP56-rated remote. This means a strong water jet would do no harm to a SunBriteTV, and the remote is resistant to even ‘powerful’ water jets.
SunBrite’s outdoor displays range from 43 to 75 inches and include 4K HDR viewing with anti-glare screen technologies. It can withstand similar temperatures as Furrion’s TVs at -24 to 122°F. The Signature Partial Sun display offers 700 nits brightness, while the Pro Full Sun shines at 1,500 nits. Its Veranda: Full Shade TV is quite bright, shining at 1,000 nits. (For context, most indoor TVs are around 200-350 nits).
SunBriteTVs do not include built-in speakers but plug-and-play with weatherproof soundbars and speakers. Its displays include HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2 support for the latest devices and streaming services.
Samsung The Terrace
Samsung’s The Terrace TVs shine in stunning 4K QLED with 100 percent color volume thanks to quantum dot technology. The Terrace can endure temperatures from -22 to 122°F. It’s rated IP55 weatherproof, and the Partial Sun TV beams at 2,000 nits of brightness. But partial means partial—this outdoor TV is not fit to receive any direct sunlight.
Like other manufacturers, Samsung also offers a Full Sun model in 1,500 nit brightness with Direct Sun Protection and anti-reflection technology. The screen also adapts to lighting conditions, so it won’t appear too bright after dark or dim during the day.
Which Is Right for You?
Furrion’s outdoor TVs tend to be less expensive but are not as waterproof as SunBriteTV or Samsung models and would fare better under a roof or partially enclosed area. SunBriteTV’s outdoor displays do not include built-in speakers but offer advanced features and have a long, proven history of weather-resistance technology. Samsung's Terrace is brighter than SunBrite’s, so whether you prefer brighter or dimmer screens may influence your decision.
