Bringing Apple Music to Control4 Smart Home

Control4 is an award-winning smart home control4 system and our top choice for Palm Beach homeowners who want to control lighting, shading, security, entertainment, and more. And Control4 has just announced some exciting news: it now natively integrates with Apple Music, the popular music streaming service.

Control4 customers with Connect or 4Sight service can now natively enjoy Apple Music through the Control4 system without needing to connect through Airplay. Now that Apple Music is native to Control4, here’s what this means for your Florida smart home.

‘Native’ to Control4

When we describe a service or technology as ‘native’ to Control4 smart homes, we mean it seamlessly integrates and operates within the Control4 ecosystem without needing additional third-party interfaces or hardware (like Airplay). For instance, Apple Music, being native to Control4, allows you to access, control, and enjoy your Apple Music library directly through the Control4 interface. You no longer need to toggle between Apple Music and Control4—it’s all housed under the C4 app.

Apple Music’s integration lets you effortlessly play music in any room, create playlists, and send music to specific speakers—without ever leaving the Control4 app. In one swipe, you may dim the lights, and in another, select an album to play.

How to Add Apple Music to Control4

To set up Apple Music on your Control4 home system, follow these simple steps:

  1. Open the Control4 app, tap “Listen,” and choose “Manage Music.”
  2. Select “Apple Music,” then tap “Add New.”
  3. If you plan to integrate more than one Apple Music account, rename the service with a unique name or label.
  4. Select rooms or zones where the Apple Music account can be accessed.

Note: native Apple Music integration is only available to Control4 users with Connect or 4Sight subscriptions.

Why Apple Music?

While Spotify is technically the most popular music streaming service in the country, Apple Music boasts far better audio quality. Spotify’s music catalog only offers compressed audio, and even Spotify Premium files peak at 320kps— four times worse than CD quality.

Meanwhile, Apple Music offers lossless audio files with AALC, Dolby Atmos, and Spatial Audio formats. To get the best sound possible out of hi-fi speakers, you need high-quality audio formats. Whether you use Apple Music already or not, it’s a great streaming choice for the audio enthusiast.
